Greg Wilson

Greg Wilson is an Assistant Building Surveyor – "I joined Kingborough Council on a Cadetship in Building Surveying. A cadetship means you get a job and are supported to complete your study.
Before my cadetship I had no building background at all. In fact, after some study at UTAS I was in superannuation but I was looking for a complete change. I started to study by distance with TAFE, to do an Advanced Diploma in Building Surveying.
I really enjoy seeing buildings go from plans to finished structures, I also have a lot of interaction with people working out how to fix problems. It’s a really varied job – your not just stuck doing the one thing all the time. I was promoted to higher level of responsibility quite quickly, I really enjoyed that".
